We are so very excited to share our feature in the December issue of Flower Magazine! Flower Magazine is the publication devoted to floral design, where the likes of Amy Osaba, Kate Holt of Flowerwild, and Sarah Winward of Honey of a Thousand Flowers have been featured before us. To be chosen to collaborate with the Flower Magazine team is an incredible honor. If you enjoy this sneak peek at Kip Dawkins‘ images, we hope you’ll pick up an issue at your local bookstore!
We draw inspiration from our surroundings when we are creating our designs. When we design in a home we look to the architecture of the building and incorporate the colors and style of the fabrics, rugs, draperies, furniture, and art. If we are working directly with a client, we find it important to spend time with them and to get a sense of their design style, whether it be inspired by their sense of fashion or home decor and we brainstorm with them to create a design that speaks to them directly.
We love abundant floral arrangements overflowing with garden-style flowers, fruits, and vines and although ours is mostly that of garden style, we enjoy working with all genres; from contemporary to traditional to organic and even glamorous! Most importantly we try to let the flowers “speak” to us. We are always saying that every flower and stem of greenery that goes into an arrangement should have a purpose and should not be overshadowed or crowded with other stems and if you look at the shape of the flower it will tell you where it should go in the arrangement. Every design we create is an original and we are constantly drawing inspiration from the world around us as well as from other designers that we admire. This is how we stay inspired and we believe that if you love what you do – it shows!
